About Me
My name is Martin. A thirty-something from London who has taken stock (excuse the pun) of my woefully inept ability to save for the future and taking a good long look at the world of trading. I’m not in any way a maths genius, nor do I possess some intricate inner-working knowledge of the stock market. In fact, quite the opposite! I don’t hold any sort of education degree and barely scraped by on my GCSE’s. I was never one for the academics. I’m simply, like many of us, someone who bumbles through life, going through the motions of dreading the Monday to Friday and looking forward to the weekends.
I’m a keen motorsports fan, with a specific passion for Formula 1 and (not quite so much any more) a keen sim racing enthusiast. Don’t judge me too heavily, but I’m also a bit of James Bond nut, as well as a closet Harry Potter fan!
My desires are simple. To remove myself from the slog of a 9 to 5 and find financial peace and security through the medium of trading. But to get there, I need to work my way through the financial jargon that plagues the trading world. I need to understand a robust and risk-averse method of trading that works, but generates a good return. I need to understand how to research and analyse companies and their respective values.
To put it simply, I need to understand. A lot.
But as I say to a lot of people, ‘you only go round once this lifetime’. So why waste it not learning something new? Furthermore, something that could unlock the key to financial freedom. Yes, it won’t be easy. Yes, there are no doubt huge risks in this venture. But I’m hopeful with the resources to hand and the stuff I’m learning along the way, I can work toward building something measured as a success.
Which is why I’ve created The Brit Trader blog. Diarising my thoughts and findings is a very helpful tool indeed, but why not make this public? Why not show the (most likely very limited) world what I learn and find along the way? It may inspire others to follow suit, or it may inspire some to read and think ‘what the f**k is he talking about?’
Either or, this site will be dedicated to me regurgitating my thoughts and ideas for you all to see. Right or wrong, winning or losing, I’m merely here to give a window into my journey and build my knowledge along the way.
Enjoy!
